Winterize Your World Wednesday: What's S'more Fun Than This? Published on January 26, 2016 Remember s’mores? Delicious chocolate warmed by the heat of a freshly toasted marshmallow and squished between two crunchy graham crackers. Mmm! Usually those memories are linked to nights spent camping or outdoor parties. But our friends Ashley and Jamin Mills, who blog at The Handmade Home, recently hosted their three young ones at an indoor s’mores party and we think it’s an amazing remedy to the winter blues. Warm up with yummy treats? Let’s do this! The Mills family used cans of Sterno, similar to what someone would use for fondue, and the long forks from a fondue pot to toast their marshmallows. But if there is already a roaring fire in the fireplace, why not get cozy next to it and use old wire coat hangers to toast your marshmallows? (Want to make your marshmallows from scratch? Be warned, there is a candy thermometer involved. It’s definitely a cooking project that has to be supervised by an adult.) Ashley and Jamin went above and beyond a classic s’more, with lots of creative ingredients displayed in colorful bowls. Here are some of their suggestions: The Granola: Graham crackers, milk chocolate, marshmallows, granola bars + peanut butter. Southern Strawberry: Graham Crackers, milk chocolate, marshmallows + sliced strawberries Mint Chocolate: Graham crackers, marshmallows, and Andes mints. Cookies + Creme: Graham crackers, marshmallows, + cookies ‘n’ creme white chocolate. Then crank up the heater, pour the hot chocolate, and party on! Are s’mores not quite what you were thinking to warm you up this winter?
