4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is your boiler in need of replacing? Barlow Service Experts is here with a few signals to look for when determining whether it’s time to purchase a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler receives annual maintenance, you can expect it to function about 15 years or so. Cast iron boilers can last a lot longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is close to 15 years or your cast iron boiler is getting close to 50 years, it may be time to consider an upgrade.

Bills

If your heating bills are rising or you’re having to service your boiler more often, it could be because it’s time to buy a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you discover yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be an indicator that the fuel is not burning properly and could be producing carbon monoxide. If you notice these issues or have any concerns about carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Barlow Service Experts or your gas company immediately.

Comfort

If some of the areas in your home are too hot or too cold and you can’t seem to control them properly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective and you may need to look into upgrade alternatives.
