What to do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite Published on February 23, 2017 We are trudging through the last several weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Nothing is worse than turning in at night just to find out your furnace won’t kick on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a couple things you can check yourself before your call Barlow Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning. Check Air Filters You should swap out standard air filters every 30 days. If you don’t, they can become clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction. Check Your Thermostat See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.” Check the Power It may seem silly, but make sure the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently flipped to the “Off” position. If you check all these things and your heating equipment will still not start up, give Barlow Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call at 801-436-8985 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
