We are trudging through the last several weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. Not much is worse than going to bed at night just to find out your furnace won’t kick on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a couple things you can check yourself before your call Barlow Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should swap out standard air filters every 30 days. If you fail to do so, they can become clogged, obstructing air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem silly, but confirm the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently flipped to the “Off” position.
If you check all these things and your heating equipment will still not start up, give Barlow Service Experts a call at 801-436-8985 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
