What Are Common Air Conditioning Problems?

Barlow Service Experts is here with some of the most common cooling problems in the Wasatch Front region.

  • No Cool Air

If you can hear your air conditioning system running but there isn’t cool air being produced, you could need to have your refrigerant levels evaluated. Refrigerant is what helps make sure the air blowing from your air conditioner is actually cool. Call Barlow Service Experts and we’ll come out and review your refrigerant levels and look into why your AC system is not blowing cool air.

  • Fan Won’t Rotate

One reason your condenser fan might not be rotating could be that it merely burned out and you have to replace it. Humidity could cause more condensation so an additional issue to watch for is that the water is not draining correctly or that the drain is blocked. If you can verify these things, you may be able to find the issue; if not, give Barlow Service Experts a call and we can find out what has stopped your condenser fan from rotating and discuss your options to get your system working again.

  • Not Cooling Properly

First, try lowering the temperature on your thermostat. It sounds ridiculous but sometimes we overlook the obvious. If that doesn’t get your system cooling, inspect the air filter. If the air filter is dirty, it could cause huge cooling problems. Another thing that could cause your insufficient cooling is that your air conditioner is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a common issue when homes are constructed. Barlow Service Experts will come out and do an analysis to determine if the size of your system is causing your problems.

  • System is Short Cycling

If your air conditioner is short cycling, or turning on or off constantly, it could mean one of multiple things. One is that your condenser or evaporator is dirty and requires cleaning. Once the unit is cleaned and all clogs removed, you may be good to go. Keep in mind that humidity also plays a role so if your home cools to the desired temperature, but then the humidity causes your home to warm up again, it could result in on-again, off-again air conditioning because the system is having to work harder to keep your home at a lower temperature.

No matter your trouble, whatever air conditioning trouble you run into, Barlow Service Experts is here for you 24 hours a day so we can get your home comfortable quickly.
